The hotel staff went above and beyond to make sure I had a comfortable stay. They offered me tea and coffee upon arrival and even drove me to explore the nearby city. The room was cozy and clean, with a traditional tatami bed. I was impressed with the outdoor and indoor onsen baths that were available to guests, and the private onsen experience was definitely worth it. The breakfast options included both Japanese and Western dishes, and the staff went out of their way to communicate with me despite the language barrier.
Nothing is perfect.

Great location near hot springs and restaurants. Friendly staff and nice views. Nice room design and the amazing ambiance outside.
Limited shuttle service, the bar service needs work. We had a terrible Christmas dinner and the drinks were watered down.

I spent my Christmas at a traditional Japanese hotel nestled in a charming onsen village. The hotel was conveniently located and accessible within an hour's commute. The staff greeted me with warm hospitality and made me feel at home. I particularly enjoyed the private onsen bath that I rented, and the cozy tatami bed in my room. the restaurant offered a variety of Japanese and Western breakfast options, which was a lovely surprise.
That the main baths were a bit of a walk away, especially during winter, making it uncomfortable to use. the staff spoke limited English, which made communication a challenge, but they were more than willing to help with any queries using translation apps.
